E2594T1-1/-4 Super Duplex Stainless Steel Flux Cored Welding Wire

E2594T1-1/-4 is a gas-shielded flux cored welding wire for Super Duplex stainless steel, particularly 2507-type grades. It combines high weld-metal strength, corrosion resistance and efficient deposition for FCAW applications. It is classified to AWS A5.22 and commonly used with CO₂ or Ar-CO₂ shielding gas for UNS S32750, S32760 and similar Super Duplex grades.

Super Duplex 2507 Flux Cored Wire

E2594T1-1/-4 is designed for Super Duplex 2507 FCAW welding and is suitable for high-alloy duplex stainless steel fabrication.
Typical base materials include:
  • UNS S32750 / SAF 2507 / EN 1.4410
  • UNS S32760 / EN 1.4501
  • UNS S32550
  • Similar 25% Cr Super Duplex grades
It can also be considered for selected dissimilar joints, subject to the base materials and qualified WPS. Washington Alloy lists applications including S32750, S32550 and other Super Duplex grades.

FCAW Characteristics

The wire is designed for gas-shielded FCAW.
Shielding gas:
  • 100% CO₂
  • Ar + 20–25% CO₂
Polarity: DCEP (DC+)
The rutile flux system provides stable arc performance, low spatter and good slag coverage and removal. Hyundai confirms CO₂ and Ar-CO₂ mixed gas as suitable shielding options.

Applications

E2594T1-1/-4 is used for Super Duplex stainless steel welding in:
  • Oil and gas equipment
  • Offshore piping and structures
  • Chemical and petrochemical equipment
  • Marine and seawater systems
  • Desalination equipment
  • Pulp and paper equipment
  • Pressure vessels and process piping
Its high-alloy weld metal is suited to applications requiring resistance to pitting, localized corrosion and chloride-related service conditions.

Typical All-Weld Metal Mechanical Properties

Typical deposited weld-metal properties may include:
  • Yield Strength: approximately 680–705 MPa
  • Tensile Strength: approximately 890–910 MPa
  • Elongation: approximately 24–28%
Actual properties depend on shielding gas, welding parameters and test conditions. For example, Hyundai reports 680–688 MPa yield strength, 891–896 MPa tensile strength and 24–26% elongation for different shielding gases, while Kobelco reports typical values of 701 MPa, 906 MPa and 27%.

Welding Position & Wire Size

E2594T1-1/-4 is classified for all-position FCAW applications. Hyundai lists 1G, 2F, 3G and 4G welding positions.
A commonly supplied diameter is 1.2 mm (0.045 in). Hyundai lists 1.2 mm with a typical current range of 160–220 A. Other diameters can be supplied according to project requirements.
