ER4043 Aluminum Welding Wire

ER4043 aluminum welding wire is a widely used Al-Si filler metal for aluminum fabrication and repair. Its silicon content promotes good weld-pool fluidity and wetting, making it a common choice for compatible 6061 and 6063 aluminum alloys and selected aluminum-silicon castings. GD WELD supplies ER4043 in MIG solid wire and TIG rod forms. Choose the appropriate product according to your base-metal grade, welding process, joint requirements, and service conditions.

Key Features

  • 4.5–6.0% silicon: Meets the commonly specified ER4043 chemical composition range.
  • Good weld-pool fluidity: Supports smooth bead formation with suitable welding parameters.
  • MIG and TIG options: Available in wire and rod forms for different production requirements.
  • General aluminum fabrication: Commonly selected for compatible 6xxx-series alloys and selected castings.

Applications and Base-Metal Compatibility

ER4043 is commonly considered for:
  • Welding compatible 6061 and 6063 aluminum alloys
  • Aluminum profiles, frames, and fabricated components
  • Selected aluminum-silicon casting repairs
  • Automotive and transportation components where the joint design permits
  • General aluminum fabrication and maintenance
For 5xxx-series alloys, especially high-magnesium grades such as 5083 and 5086, do not select ER4043 without confirming filler-metal compatibility and service requirements. For visible components requiring a uniform anodized finish, consider that ER4043 weld metal may develop a gray color difference after anodizing.
