For Duplex 2205 Welding
E2209T1-1/-4 is designed for Duplex 2205 FCAW welding and is suitable where higher deposition efficiency is required compared with conventional SMAW electrodes.
Common base materials include:
- Duplex 2205 stainless steel
- Similar 22% Cr duplex grades
For critical fabrication, the filler metal should be selected according to the base material, applicable standard and qualified WPS.
FCAW Performance & Shielding Gas
This duplex stainless steel flux cored wire is designed for gas-shielded FCAW.
Shielding gas:
Polarity: DCEP (DC+)
The flux system provides stable arc characteristics, uniform slag coverage and good slag removal. Welding heat input, interpass temperature and shielding conditions should be controlled according to the qualified welding procedure.
Typical Applications
E2209T1-1/-4 is commonly used for duplex stainless steel fabrication and repair in:
- Chemical processing systems
- Pressure piping and vessels
- Marine and seawater equipment
It is particularly suited to production welding where FCAW productivity is important.
International Classification
| |
|---|
AWS A5.22 / ASME SFA-5.22 | |

These are all-weld-metal reference values for the AWS classification, not guaranteed batch chemistry. Actual composition varies with shielding gas and manufacturer and should be confirmed by the MTC.
Typical All-Weld Metal Mechanical Properties
Typical deposited weld-metal properties may include:
- Yield Strength: approximately 550–685 MPa
- Tensile Strength: approximately 780–840 MPa
- Elongation: approximately 25–32%
AWS A5.22 specifies minimum mechanical requirements, while the actual values depend on shielding gas, welding parameters and test conditions. Manufacturer data shows typical tensile strength around 780–840 MPa and elongation around 25–32%.
Welding Position & Wire Sizes
E2209T1-1/-4 is available for all-position FCAW, subject to the specific manufacturer's classification and qualified WPS. Manufacturer data includes 1G, 2F, 3G and 4G applications.
A common size is 1.2 mm (0.045 in), with other diameters available depending on the product and project requirements.
E2209T1-1/-4 vs ER2209
Both are used for duplex stainless steel welding, but they serve different processes:
