E7016 is a carbon steel SMAW electrode with low-hydrogen potassium coating, compatible with AC and DC+.
The basic low-hydrogen system delivers good low-temperature toughness and outstanding cold crack resistance, suitable for critical steel structures at field sites without DC power supply.
Coating Type: Low-hydrogen potassium type
Current Polarity: AC / DC+ (DC reverse polarity)
Welding Process: SMAW,All position weld
Comparison: E7015 / E7016 / E7018
E7015: Low-hydrogen sodium type, DC+ only. Superior toughness, AC unavailable.
E7016: Low-hydrogen potassium type, AC/DC+ compatible. Low-hydrogen without iron powder, average efficiency.
E7018: Low-hydrogen potassium iron powder type, AC/DC+ compatible. Iron powder added for highest deposition efficiency.
E7016 Features
· Stable arc and moderate spatter.
· Basic low-hydrogen formulation provides good weld toughness and cold crack resistance.
· AC/DC+ dual polarity, compatible with field AC welders.
· Easy slag removal, suitable for all-position welding.
· Note: High-temperature baking is mandatory. Sensitive to rust and oil contaminants. No iron powder, average deposition efficiency.
E7016 Welding Tips
· Compatible with AC or DC+.
· Use short arc and narrow bead technique.
· Remove oil, moisture and heavy rust around the groove.
E7016 Common Defects
Porosity: damp electrode, insufficient baking, excessive arc length
Cold cracking: electrode moisture, insufficient preheat, rapid cooling
Slag inclusion: excessive weave width, incomplete inter-pass cleaning
E7016 Applicable Base Metals
