E6010 is a vertical-down welding electrode with high-cellulosic sodium coating, suitable for DC straight polarity.
E6010 features strong arc blowing force and achieves single-side welding with double-side formation. The slag is minimal and easy to remove, delivering attractive weld appearance and fast welding speed. The deposited metal possesses sound mechanical properties, excellent resistance to porosity and cracking. It is a dedicated electrode for all-position vertical-down welding of girth welds on pipelines in field construction.
E6010 VS E6011
E6010: Sodium cellulosic type, DC+ only. Higher penetration, standard electrode for pipeline root welding.
E6011: Potassium cellulosic type, AC/DC compatible. Slightly lower arc force, widely used for repairs and thin sheet welding.
Coating Type: High-cellulosic sodium type
Current Polarity: DC Reverse Polarity (DC+) Only (Electrode Positive)
Welding Process: SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), all-position welding; specially designed for pipeline vertical-down welding
E6010 Features
· Powerful arc penetration & blowing force, single-side welding double-side formation. Perfect for pipeline root pass.
· Thin, fast-solidifying slag, easy to clean. Suitable for vertical-down and overhead welding.
· Welds workpieces with slight rust & scale; ideal for field pipeline construction.
· Shielding gas from coating cellulose combustion. Smooth welds, compliant with radiographic testing.
⚠ AC welding machines prohibited. Use only DC+ (DC reverse polarity).
E6010 Welding Tips
· Use only DC+ (reverse polarity). Wrong polarity causes weak arc, shallow penetration and porosity.
· Keep short arc (1.5~2 mm). Long arc leads to hydrogen porosity.
· Recommended pipeline groove: 28°~32° angle, 1.0~1.5 mm root face, 1.5~2.5 mm gap.
· Remove oil, heavy rust and moisture within 50 mm on both sides of groove.
Common Defects
· Porosity: damp electrode, excessive arc length, surface contaminants, incorrect polarity
· Root lack of fusion: insufficient current, fast travel speed
· Concavity / burn-through: excessive current, prolonged arc dwelling at root
E6010 Applicable Base Metals
