Base Metal Matching
Suitable for 410, 410S martensitic stainless steel welding; surfacing wear-resistant anti-rust layer on carbon steel.

Applications

Steam turbine blades, pump shafts, valve sealing surfaces, water turbine parts, anti-rust wear surfacing, heat-resistant mechanical components.
⚠️ Not for chloride, acid strong corrosion environments; not for welding 300-series austenitic stainless steel
Welding Precautions
• Thoroughly remove oil, rust, scale and moisture from grooves before welding to avoid porosity. Use stainless steel-specific grinding wheels/wire brushes.
• Preheat workpiece to 150–250°C before welding; interpass temperature ≤200°C.
• Post-weld tempering treatment (700–760°C) is required to eliminate brittleness and improve toughness.
• Wind protection is required for outdoor welding if wind speed exceeds 1.0 m/s.
ER410 vs ER420
✅ ER410 (low carbon 13Cr): Balanced toughness & hardness, structural parts, anti-rust surfacing
✅ ER420 (higher carbon 13Cr): Higher hardness, wear-resistant tools & cutting components
Important Cautions
• Do not use high CO₂ mixed gas; carbon increase will raise brittleness of martensitic weld.
• Cannot replace ER316L for seawater or acid corrosion service.
