Aluminum Wire
ER5556 Aluminum Welding Wire
ER5556 (AlMg5.2Mn) is high-magnesium aluminum-manganese filler wire for welding 5xxx aluminum-magnesium alloys.
产品名称 ER5556
ALUMINUM WELDING WIRE (MIG & TIG)
ER5556 (AlMg5.2Mn) is high-magnesium aluminum-manganese filler wire for welding 5xxx aluminum-magnesium alloys.
Key Features: Higher magnesium content than ER5356 for improved strength, outstanding seawater corrosion resistance.
Caution: Unsuitable for long-term continuous high-temperature operation due to risk of stress corrosion cracking.
Applicable Standards
AWS A5.10:ER5556(MIG)/ R5556(TIG)
EN ISO 18273:S Al 5556(AlMg5.2Mn)
Standard Diameter & Packaging
• MIG wires: 0.8/0.9/1.0/1.2/1.6 mm, Standard spools: 0.45kg, 0.5kg, 1kg, 2kg,6 kg, 7 kg
-TIG rods: 2.0/2.4/3.2/4.0/5.0 mm, 1m fixed length, packed in5kg plastic tube and 5kg cardboard box.
Welding Polarity
• MIG (GMAW):DCEP
• TIG (GTAW):AC
Shielding Gas (MIG + TIG)
• Preferred shielding gas: 100% pure Ar. Ar+He mixture is available for thick plates requiring deep penetration.
• Flow rate: MIG 18–25 L/min, TIG 12–18 L/min.
Mechanical Properties of Deposited Metal
Tensile Strength: 280–310 MPa
Yield Strength: 140–160 MPa
Elongation (A5): 16%–19%
Melting Range: 580–640℃
Key Advantages
• Alternative wire for 5083, 5086, 5456 highMg 5xxx AlMg alloys
• Higher deposited strength than ER5356 for highstrength 5xxx structures
• Excellent seawater & chloride resistance for marine and salt spray applications
• Uniform white surface after anodizing, suitable for aesthetic parts
• Works with MIG and TIG; stable arc, low spatter
• Good ductility and smooth weld bead
Recommended Base Metals
✅ Recommended: 5083, 5086, 5456, 5254 Al-Mg alloys
✅ Dissimilar welding: 5xxx high-Mg alloys ↔ 6061/6082 Al-Mg-Si alloys
⚠️ Caution: Not for 5454 (ER5554 preferred); avoid cast aluminum
❌ Do not mix with 4xxx Al-Si wires (ER4043/ER4047) for 5-series aluminum Important Note: Long-term service over 65℃ may cause stress corrosion cracking; use ER5554 for high-temperature conditions.
Applications
· Ship structures, yachts and offshore aluminum constructions
· Port equipment and seawater desalination aluminum parts
· High-strength trailers, containers and heavy-duty aluminum frames
· Corrosion-resistant aluminum structures for fresh water & seawater service
