E410NiMo for CA6NM Hydro Turbine Repair
E410NiMoT1-1/-4 is particularly suited to welding and repair of 13Cr-4Ni martensitic stainless steel, including CA6NM commonly used in hydroelectric equipment.
The wire is suitable for components exposed to water, mechanical loading and abrasive service, including:
- Shafts and heavy-section stainless parts
- 13Cr-4Ni stainless steel fabrication
For critical components, filler-metal selection and heat treatment should follow the qualified WPS and component specification.
E410NiMoT1-1 vs E410NiMoT1-4
Both classifications belong to the same E410NiMo weld-metal family. The main difference is the shielding gas.

| Typically 75–80% Ar + 20–25% CO₂ |
The exact gas composition should follow the manufacturer's technical data and qualified welding procedure.
Classification & Process
- AWS A5.22: E410NiMoT1-1/-4
- ASME SFA-5.22: E410NiMoT1-1/-4
- EN ISO 17633-A: T 13 4 P M21/C1 2
- JIS Z 3323: TS410NiMo-FB1
- Typical Wire Diameters: 1.2 mm, 1.6 mm
Typical Weld Metal Composition
Actual deposited weld-metal chemistry may vary with shielding gas, manufacturer and welding procedure.
Mechanical Properties
AWS Classification Requirements
Commercial products may achieve tensile strengths around 890–900 MPa and elongation around 16–21%, depending on shielding gas and heat-treatment condition.
Actual properties should be confirmed from the manufacturer's test certificate.
Welding & Heat Treatment
E410NiMoT1-1/-4 is used with controlled heat input and appropriate preheat and interpass conditions.
For CA6NM and heavy-section hydro turbine components, controlled preheat and PWHT may be required depending on base material, thickness and the qualified welding procedure.
As a manufacturer reference, 1.6 mm wire may be used at approximately 160–220 A. Final current, voltage, preheat, interpass temperature and PWHT should follow the manufacturer's datasheet and qualified WPS.
