Product Overview
E309LT1-1/-4 stainless steel flux cored welding wire is designed for gas-shielded flux-cored arc welding (FCAW-G). Its low-carbon chromium-nickel weld metal is commonly used for joining stainless steel to carbon steel or low-alloy steel.
With approximately 23% chromium and 12–13% nickel in typical deposited weld metal, 309L-type wire is a common choice for selected dissimilar metal joints, stainless steel cladding and transition layers. Actual weld metal composition depends on the product and shielding gas.
Key Features
- 309L-type low-carbon chromium-nickel weld metal
- Classification options for CO₂ and Ar/CO₂ shielding gas, subject to product certification
- Suitable for selected dissimilar metal welding
- Good slag coverage and bead formation
- Designed for industrial fabrication and cladding applications
AWS Classification and Shielding Gas
Use the shielding gas specified for the classification on the product certificate. For mixed-gas welding, follow the manufacturer's recommended gas composition and welding parameters.
Applications
E309LT1-1/-4 flux cored welding wire is commonly used for joining stainless steel to carbon steel or low-alloy steel. Other applications include stainless-clad steel, buffer layers, transition layers and selected industrial maintenance work.
Filler metal selection should consider the base metal grades, service temperature, corrosion conditions and qualified welding procedure.
Deposited Metal Chemical Composition
The following table lists commonly referenced AWS A5.22 composition limits for E309LT1-1-type products. Confirm the exact limits for the applicable classification and product certificate before treating them as guaranteed specifications.
Note: This is a reference classification table, not a batch analysis. Check the manufacturer's technical data sheet and inspection certificate for verified composition limits and actual deposited-metal results.
Mechanical Properties
The following values are commonly referenced minimum requirements for E309LT1-1-type products under AWS A5.22. Verify the applicable standard edition and classification before publication.
Actual mechanical test results should be confirmed against the product inspection certificate.
Welding Recommendations
Use DCEP (DC+) polarity and the shielding gas specified for the selected classification. Wire diameter, current, voltage, gas flow rate and welding position should follow the manufacturer's technical data sheet and the qualified welding procedure.
Clean the joint area before welding and maintain appropriate shielding. Heat input and interpass temperature should be controlled according to the base materials and application.
